Sleeping Beauty Dreams is an unprecedented show, in which contemporary dance meets state-of-the-art, real-time avatar-mapping projection technology and contemporary music to create a new kind of multi-dimensional scenic experience. L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound technology is implemented in tandem with BlackTrax motion tracking to ensure that sound and movement achieve stunning simultaneity with the world-class choreography performed by Principal Dancer Diana Vishneva in the role of Princess Aurora, set to a futuristic score by Thijs de Vlieger of NOISIA.
No one has ever explored what the Princess was dreaming while she slept for 100 years. For the first time ever, experience her dreams through real-time digital avatars in a groundbreaking creative exploration of dance, music and technology. The show’s creators take one of the most iconic stories, Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty”, and explore the—often haunting—dreams, passions and temptations of the Sleeping Beauty.
Millions of this fairytale’s fans know by heart the beginning and the end of the story, but no one has previously revealed what happened to the Princess while she was asleep. What populated her dreams? We unravel the mystery of Princess Aurora’s 100-year long slumber, the uncharted territory that has never been part of the original libretto.
Unlike a contemporary ballet that mainly reinforces choreography, yet may involve elements of art and technology, this project integrates visual art, dance and technology as equally essential components of the production.
The show premiered in December of 2018 at Art Basel Miami before heading to New York City’s iconic Beacon Theater. The production is scheduled to tour Russia beginning in September 2019, continuing on to several US cities in November 2019.
