Chris Watson’s latest sound art piece ‘Salmo salar – the three realms’ premiered in May 2019 as part of Serpentine’s General Ecology symposium at EartH using L-Acoustics hyperreal immersive audio technology. In November, guests at our Sound Art Gallery in London experienced recordings on Ocean in an 18.1 configuration. Listeners were submerged in darkness and able to localize every animal and moment in nature through the ultra-high resolution 3D system.
The event featured musician and sound recordist Chris Watson and Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director at Serpentine Galleries.
“I was incredibly excited by the opportunity of working with L-Acoustics because we don’t hear the world in stereo or 5.1, we hear the world in a very similar way to how we’ve heard it tonight. You can sculpt pieces with the L-ISA technology – you can refine them.” – Chris Watson, musician & sound Artist who travelled north to capture the pristine sound of nature as part of ‘Salmo salar’.
